A BRIEF INTERMISSION FROM WRITING TO MAKE AN APPEAL CONCERNING THE NATIONAL GUARDSMEN HELPING W/THE WILDFIRES IN HAWAII

I've previously mentioned that my daughter is a full-time combat medic with the National Guard here in South Carolina.

Back in 2019, she fulfilled all of her prerequisite training in the months before she was deployed to Kuwait.   A little over four months later, the pandemic lockdowns hit and those poor kids over there were not only extended due to non-movement of troops, but the conditions they lived under were, in my estimation, obscene and stupid and nonsensical and ridiculous and unnecessary.

I made a plea to all of my friends on and off Facebook as there was a real need for food and personal items.

I was floored at the response,  Whenever I think of it, I am moved all over again.   She left in May 2019 and returned home the first week of October 2020.  It felt like forever, but during that time, she would share with me all of the many packages and cards and letters she received from my friends and friends of those friends.

Normally, I would never make an appeal to people I know, so as not to make them feel obligated. I'd just do what I could myself and that would be it. But the need was so dire, I felt compelled to ask and those dear people were happy to do it and to play a part in helping our military.

So, that is the setup for my plea now.  Today my daughter received an email making her and others aware of the National Guardsmen who are currently helping with this crisis of epic proportions in Hawaii and here is an excerpt from that email:

If you find yourself able to help in any way at all, I can assure you, as the mom of a guardsman who has been deployed to help during hurricanes and the like, it is more than greatly appreciated.
